How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of the messenger who brings good news, the good news of peace and salvation, the news that the God of Israel reigns!
Patrick Boersma has been assisting in the planting of ministries and the care of the poor since our first days in Israel. He has provided care for the poorest families and individuals through the years. He is a citizen of the Netherlands, and was ordained as a Pastor by our Calvary Chapel Tel Aviv church plant. He is fluent in four languages including Hebrew and has studied others as well. Most importantly, however, is he is a strong believer in Jesus Christ and loves the Lord.
Oleksiy and Paula Chernyshov have labored for years in Israel strengthening believers and reaching out to non-believers. They lead and assist in various Bible studies and ministries to the poor. When not serving in Israel Oleksiy and Paula are in the United States working in their “tent making” and saving up to fund their next trip to the land. Their trust in God to provide all they need is a great example to others of God’s faithfulness. Oleksiy’s fluency in Russian give him access to the second largest people group in Israel; Russian Jewish immigrants.
After working more than 10 years as a secular photojournalist, Geraldine Wilkins gave her life to Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1999. A year later she began doing work for Calvary Chapel Magazine and began full time service in ministry in 2004. She served in women’s ministry at her home church, Calvary Chapel of Fredericksburg, Virginia. Then, after several trips to Israel, she sensed the Lord calling her to minister there with the Shepherd’s Light non-profit. We look forward to what the Lord will do through her life as she dedicates herself to bringing the Gospel to the Jewish people.
Ben and Felice Nation each have loved Israel and her people long before their little marriage ceremony on the Sea of Galilee in 2015. The couple answered God’s call to serve in Israel in the various church functions and ministries to the poor. Ben serves in visiting the sick in hospitals and the poor that live on the sidewalks and alleyways of the Tel Aviv inner city. In addition to serving alongside Ben, Felice has also served for several years as a worship leader for the Tel Aviv congregation; both in person and through videos. She is well known and greatly loved among the Jewish people in the Calvary Chapel Tel Aviv church.
Stephen and Patricia Apple came to Israel in 2004 to share God’s love in Jesus Christ and to work among poor of the Tel Aviv inner city. They began by providing food, clothing, medical assistance and other practical needs. These acts of compassion opened the hearts of many Israelis to the Gospel. They founded Calvary Chapel of Tel Aviv in 2004 and the Shepherd’s Light non-profit in 2007. The Apples manage the Shepherd’s Light ministry projects in Israel and the training of U.S.A. based church teams for Israel ministry.
